Erasing Pesky Podcasts that Don’t Download Correctly

Like many people, I like to listen to podcasts on my iPod Touch. I want to control what does and does not show up on my iPod, so I manually manage my music and podcasts. Sometimes, that will cause a problem. Occasionally, I will download a podcast onto my iPod, but the process doesn’t finish correctly. For example, today I downloaded a podcast to my iPod; it showed up on my iPod, but not on iTunes. In addition, the podcast wouldn’t play on my iPod, but iTunes wouldn’t download it any more. The only way to deal with this problem is to delete the podcast from the iPod and start all over again, but how do you do that when iTunes won’t see it? Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem.

Deleting Podcasts from an iPod

It only takes a couple small steps to get rid of a podcast from the iPod:

  1. First, bring up the podcast screen on your iPod.
  2. Second, click on the particular podcast that you are interested in so you can see the different podcast episodes.
  3. Next, swipe the podcast episode that you are interested in deleting by running your finger over the podcast from left to right.
  4. At this point, you should see a red delete button.
  5. Click it, and your podcast is deleted!

At this point, you should be able to reload the Podcast and play it successfully.

A Tip

If you delete your podcasts while your iPod is plugged into your computer, you may need to disconnect your iPod from your computer and then reconnect it before you will be able to re-download your podcast.
